Please come to or call the city office and we can discuss accommodations.
Will signing up for TextMyGov replace the information the city posts on its website, LED reader board, or Facebook?
No! The city will post information in these places in the event of an emergency. Planned maintenance events affecting a small number of residents may be posted in these places as needed.
Why is the city implementing TextMyGov?
Currently, when emergencies or planned maintenance affect city services, city staff create flyers and distribute them door-to-door to notify residents. Depending on staffing availability and the area affected, this process can take up to 12 hours to complete. This method is time-consuming, delays communication with residents, and takes city staff away from responding to the situation at hand, potentially extending the time needed to resolve the issue. TextMyGov will help improve response efficiency, reduce notification delays, and ensure residents who have signed up for alerts receive timely information about emergencies, service interruptions, planned maintenance, and other important city business.
If I reply to a text message, will someone at City Hall receive it and respond?
No! The system is one-way communication from the the city to you. If you need to contact city hall please call or email. If you receive a message that is asking for a response, this is NOT from the city.
How often will I receive texts from City of McCammon?
Only as necessary for planned maintenance, emergencies, shutoffs, road closures or other important city events. We will not spam you!
I am a landlord and rent out my home/apartment, should my tenants sign up for the service too?
Yes! Please ask your tenants to sign up for the service by texting MCCAMMON to 91896.
What is the cost for the service?
Message and data rates apply. You will not see an additional charge for this service on your utility bill. The annual cost to the city is $1,800, or approximately $150.00 per month. In 2026 alone, the city has experienced three planned maintenance events and two emergency events that affected city services. Each event requires city staff to prepare and deliver notices door to door to 360 homes. By implementing TextMyGov, the city expects to reduce overall notification costs and allow employees to focus their time on maintaining and restoring essential city services. The city believes this is a practical investment and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
